Purcellville — The Heart of Western Loudoun
Settled in the mid-1700s and incorporated in 1908, Purcellville is the historical and cultural center of western Loudoun County. Its Victorian-era downtown, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is anchored by century-old institutions like Nichols Hardware and remains one of the most walkable small-town main streets in Northern Virginia. Today the town of approximately 9,000 serves as the commercial hub for a region of more than 50 wineries, breweries, and distilleries.
The Purcellville market spans handsome historic residences in the in-town corridor, established neighborhoods of single-family homes, and surrounding acreage that opens into the Loudoun Valley between the Catoctin and Blue Ridge Mountains. The W&OD Trail runs through the center of town — a daily reminder of the railroad that built the place.
